One time by trying to...Once again, marketing fails. One time by trying to define a cliched book as something "new", another time by masking a good book by defining it as more of the same... This series has <i>a lot</i> going for it, I'm disappointed that it's been reduced to its minor traits by many readers and by its publishers. It's still a traditional YA fantasy in many regards, but it's a <i>very good</i> YA fantasy in those areas, and in others it manages to be its own book. Which I quite liked. As someone completely burned out on the genre, I really, really enjoyed this.
